What we do
Roof Painting & Membrane Coating on the Sunshine Coast
The coating is what most people mean by roof restoration, and it is also the step most often done badly. A roof membrane is not house paint. It is a thick, elastomeric acrylic applied as a primer and two coats to build a waterproof film that seals the tile surface, stops the colour fading, and sheds water and dirt. We use Industrial Roof Coatings, Australian made on the Gold Coast, applied by airless spray for an even film: Roof Refresh with a 10-year manufacturer warranty, Roof Protect with 15 years, and a 20-year system on concrete tiles with a platinum primer.
Colour is your call. Monument, Surfmist, Basalt, Woodland Grey, terracotta reds, charcoals and the rest of the range are all available, and we can match most Colorbond colours. For a hot west-facing roof, the Thermal HRC heat-reflective coating uses infrared-reflective pigments to keep the surface cooler; manufacturers such as Dulux quote their cool roof products as reflecting up to 90 per cent of the sun's light energy. We do not put a number on your power bill, because it depends on your insulation and your house, but a lighter, reflective roof is cooler to stand on and that heat is not going into your ceiling.
Preparation is everything. We will not coat over dirt, lichen, loose pointing or broken tiles, because the membrane only lasts as long as what it is stuck to. Every painting job starts with a pressure clean and the repairs the roof needs, which is why on most roofs it becomes a full restoration.
What's included
Pressure clean and repairs first
Bare, sound tile before any primer goes on. Broken tiles and failed pointing fixed.
Primer or sealer coat
Bonds the membrane to the tile and seals porous concrete so the top coats sit evenly.
Two membrane top coats
Sprayed by airless spray for a consistent film thickness. Gloss, satin or matt.
Heat-reflective option
Thermal HRC infrared-reflective coating for hot roofs and homes without ceiling insulation.
Colour matching
Full Industrial Roof Coatings range and matches to most Colorbond colours.
Gutters, fascia and gables
Painted in the same visit if you want the whole roofline done. See gutter and fascia painting.
When roof painting makes sense
- Concrete tiles that have faded, gone chalky or show bare grey patches
- A sound roof that just looks tired next to a renovated house
- You want to change the roof colour to match new render, cladding or gutters
- A dark roof that cooks the house every summer
- Metal roof with surface rust but sound sheets
- Preparing a house for sale
