A driveway is the first thing anyone sees at a Sunshine Coast house and it takes as much weather as the roof. Humidity and shade grow black mould across the concrete, salt air and rain leave a grey film, the car drops oil where it always parks, and pavers lift and grow weeds at the joints. Most driveways have never been cleaned properly since they were poured. A pressure clean with a surface cleaner, which washes in overlapping passes rather than streaking the concrete with a wand, takes off years of mould and grime in a few hours.

Cleaning alone brings back the colour of the concrete or the pavers. Sealing afterwards keeps it that way: a clear penetrating sealer stops water and oil soaking in, slows the mould coming back and makes the next wash easier. Where the concrete is stained through, patched or just the wrong colour for the house, a concrete paint or resurfacing coat in a colour to match the roof, gutters or render gives the driveway a new surface and hides the old repairs. Popular choices are charcoals and warm greys that sit well under a Monument or Woodland Grey roof.

We do most driveways in the same visit as a roof restoration or roof clean, because the pressure gear and the crew are already on site and the house is finished top to bottom in one go. Pressure cleaning is priced by the square metre at rates similar to a roof clean, which a published Sunshine Coast guide puts at $2.50 to $3.50 per square metre. Sealing and painting are quoted on inspection, because the area, the condition of the surface and the finish all change the price.

Done in the same visit if you want the whole hardstand cleaned. Ask for the garage floor too.

Driveway Cleaning & Painting: common questions

Will pressure cleaning damage my concrete or pavers?

Not sound concrete or pavers cleaned with a surface cleaner at the right pressure. Old, soft or already spalling concrete can lose surface, so we check it first and drop the pressure where needed. Paver joints lose some sand in the wash and are re-sanded afterwards.

Is sealing worth it after a clean?

Yes if you want the driveway to stay clean. A penetrating sealer stops oil and water soaking in and slows mould regrowth, so the next wash is a quick one instead of a full clean. It also brings up the colour of exposed aggregate and pavers. We quote it as a separate line so you can decide.

Can you paint my driveway to match the roof?

Yes. Concrete paints and resurfacing coats come in a range that lines up with common roof and gutter colours, so a charcoal or grey driveway can sit under a Monument roof and matching gutters. The surface has to be clean, sound and fully dry before it goes on, which is why it follows a pressure clean.

Can I get the driveway done with my roof restoration?

That is how most of our driveway jobs happen. The crew and pressure gear are already at the house, so adding the driveway is cheaper than booking it separately. Ask when you get your roof quote and we will add it as a line item.
