Roof Restoration Sunshine Coast Hinterland

Two thousand millimetres of rain a year on the range, deep shade, older terracotta and corrugated iron in the towns. Hinterland roofs need cleaning more than coastal ones and coating no less.

Local knowledge

Roofs in Sunshine Coast Hinterland

The hinterland is wetter and shadier than the coast. Maleny averages 2,000.8 millimetres of rain a year at 425 metres, against about 1,490 at the Sunshine Coast Airport, and the range towns of Montville, Mapleton and Flaxton sit in cloud for weeks at a time in winter. That means moss and lichen on any tile roof with a tree over it, mortar that stays wet and fails early, and gutters that never dry out. Salt is less of an issue than on the coast, but the AS 4312 C3 zone can extend well inland on the prevailing winds.

The housing is older and more varied too. Nambour grew around the sugar mill from 1897, Palmwoods and Yandina are railway towns from the 1890s, and there is more terracotta, more corrugated iron on Queenslanders and more 1960s and 70s fibro out here than on the coast. We restore terracotta and concrete, coat metal, replace rusted valleys and re-point ridges from Nambour and Woombye out to Kenilworth and up to Cooroy and Pomona. Any asbestos-cement roof is inspected and referred on; we never pressure clean fibro.

Questions

Roof restoration in Sunshine Coast Hinterland: common questions

Do you cover all of Sunshine Coast Hinterland?

Yes. We work across the whole of Sunshine Coast Hinterland, from Nambour to Doonan, and every suburb above has its own page with local detail. If yours is missing, send the address anyway; we cover the whole Sunshine Coast and Noosa Shire.

How much does a roof restoration cost in Hinterland?

A published Sunshine Coast guide puts a tiled roof restoration at $3,875 to $10,650 (typical $6,300) and a metal roof at $2,900 to $5,800. Salt-front roofs sometimes need more metal replaced and hinterland roofs more cleaning, which we see on the satellite measure and confirm on site. Guide only; your quote is fixed after inspection.

How quickly can you quote?

Usually within a business day for the satellite estimate, then a site inspection within the week. Leaks and storm damage are prioritised. Send photos and the address to 0434 142 995 and we can often give a rough figure the same day.

Do you need building approval for restoration work here?

No. Restoration, repairs and painting are maintenance to an existing building, exempt under Schedule 1 of the Queensland Building Regulation 2021. Re-roofing more than 20 per cent of a roof needs approval, and body corporate townhouses may need the committee's sign-off on colour.
