Roofs in Battery Hill: what we see and what we do
Battery Hill is a small hilltop suburb wedged between Currimundi, Dicky Beach and Nicklin Way. Almost all of it was built in one push during the 1970s and 80s, so the housing stock is consistent: single-storey brick homes on sloping blocks with concrete tile roofs. Forty years on, many of those tiles have lost their coating, and the ridges along the long hip lines have cracked mortar and loose caps.
The hill sits 500 metres to a kilometre back from Dicky Beach, which places it in the C4 near-coastal band of AS 4312. Height makes the difference here: exposed roofs on the crest get more salt wind and more UV than the sheltered streets below. The November 2025 hail also hit this side of Caloundra.
