Roofs in Glass House Mountains: what we see and what we do
Glass House Mountains is a small township and a wide spread of acreage under the peaks of Tibrogargan, Beerwah and Coonowrin. Housing is mixed: older timber and fibro homes with corrugated iron near the town centre, 1970s to 90s brick homes with concrete tiles, and larger rural blocks with Colorbond houses and sheds. Pineapple and turf farms surround the town, and roofs on those properties do a lot of hard work.
The area is C3 inland under AS 4312, more than 20 kilometres from the surf, so salt is minor and the main enemies are UV, rain and storm cells rolling off the range. The 2025 hail season was unusually active across south-east Queensland. Seaspray Restos travels to the Glass House Mountains for tile and metal roof restoration, storm repairs and ridge re-pointing.
Things to watch on Glass House Mountains roofs
- Rust on unpainted sheds and older corrugated iron homes
- Hail damage to tiles and gutters from storms off the range
- Moss and leaf litter on roofs under big trees
